Caring for Your Fresh, Wisconsin Christmas Tree

Make A Fresh Cut

Remove an inch from the bottom of the trunk before putting the tree in a stand. When trees are cut, pitch seals the pores. A fresh cut opens the pores, allowing the tree to take up more water.

Water, Water, Water!

We recommend filling the tree stand with very hot water when you first put the tree in the stand (using caution around children and pets).

Refill Frequently

Check the stand daily to make sure the water level does not fall below the fresh cut on the trunk.

Keep it Cool

Keep the tree away from fireplaces and other heat sources. To reduce drying of the tree, avoid direct sunlight, choose lights that produce low or no heat, turn off lights at night, and turn down the room temperature.
